World Renowned Spanish Artist Nieto Anton's Castillian Landscapes to be Auctioned

Proceeds to Benefit New Children’s Museum San Diego

November 1, 2004—Nieto Anton’s sun-kissed landscapes, quaint villages, luscious still lifes, and seascapes are inspired by the golden sunlight that drenches his native Spain. Thirty-two of the internationally celebrated painter’s masterworks, which have been on display in the best galleries all over the world, will be for sale at an auction and reception on Saturday, November 20, from 1–4 pm at The Grande Colonial Inn, La Jolla, Proceeds from the art sale will go to the Children’s Museum San Diego new facility, currently under construction in downtown San Diego.

Nieto Anton will be on hand to discuss his works at the silent auction and reception. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and Spanish-flavored entertainment while bidding on the artwork, which ranges in size from 10” x 10” to 58” x 45” and price from $324 to $7,500. Persons can guarantee the purchase of a favorite painting at a pre-sale at the hotel beginning November 15, where the artwork will be on the display, during regular business hours.

Nieto Anton’s paintings have been shown in exhibitions around the world, including Washington, D.C, London, Madrid and Mexico City. He maintains a studio in Madrid, and spends weekends in Ayllon, the village of his birth in Segovia. San Diego’s favorite creative destination for kids and families since 1983, the new Children’s Museum will rise in early 2008 as a 50,000 state-of-the-art facility. An integral part of the revitalization of downtown, the building is being designed by the award-winning architectural firm, Rob Wellington Quigley. The new Museum will not only serve as a valuable community resource but also as an architectural icon, a premier world-class attraction and a top family-tourist destination.
