Residents to Tour New Children’s Museum

What
The San Diego Downtown Residents Group will be touring the new Children’s Museum, now under construction. Following the tour, participants will hear about the Museum’s new programs and how they have influenced its unusual atrium-style design.

Why
Families living downtown have long awaited the reopening of the Museum and are anxious to preview the new facility. The new Children’s Museum San Diego rising downtown has been touted as the “greenest” building in the region, with environmentally friendly elements dictating the building’s design.

Who
Katy Hamilton, project manager/architect with Rob Wellington Quigley, FAIA, will lead the tour. Quigley, architect and Rachel Teagle, new executive director of the Children’s Museum San Diego, will conduct Museum presentations following the tour.

View the partially completed one-of-a-kind Museum with its saw-tooth roof, wide open spaces, interior bridge that rises 17-feet above the lower level and preview the new state-of-the-art facility as dozens of downtown residents take a guided tour. Shots can be taken through the building to the neighboring structures.
